Tips To Help You Deal With Morning Sickness

Morning sickness is something that does not affect all pregnant women. On the other hand, some pregnant women may feel sick all day long and throughout their entire pregnancies. Morning sickness can be just nausea or it can be a full-on sickness with vomiting and an inability to eat or even brush your teeth. If you have morning sickness, there are things you can do to help deal with it. Read on for tips to help you deal with morning sickness during your pregnancy.

1. Keep Your Belly Full

Keep your belly full, as an empty stomach may make you feel more nauseous. Even if you can't keep anything down, try to eat dry foods such as crackers, pretzels, or plain toast. You need to have something in your stomach, so try to keep your foods bland and dry. Eat as soon as you wake up, eat small snacks between meals, and eat before bed time as well to prevent your nausea from getting too bad.

2. Stay Hydrated

If you're getting morning sickness and vomiting you need to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Drinking water is healthy for you and for your unborn baby as well. Drink at least eight to ten glasses of water per day. This may make you have to use the bathroom more often, but it's necessary. Just plan for extra bathroom breaks throughout the day.

3. Get Enough Sleep

You need to be sure you get enough sleep throughout your pregnancy. The extra rest is going to be necessary during your pregnancy and can also help prevent morning sickness. If your body is not in its best shape because it's overly exhausted, it isn't going to be able to fight off the nausea. Get enough sleep and give your body a break. It's going to go through a lot during your pregnancy, so get your rest when you can.

4. Ventilate Your Home

Smells may make your nausea worse, so strong odors while cooking or even strong odors from fragrances may trigger your nausea. Ventilate your home by opening up the windows or using a fan to help air out your house. Avoiding fragrances altogether may also help prevent your nausea.

5. Exercise

Exercise such as a brisk walk or even a light stroll around your neighborhood can help prevent your nausea. It may help to take your mind off of your nausea or at the very least help get your body in shape enough to fight off the nausea.
